Product Safety New Zealand has updated a recall for GASGAS Cross Country and Motocross motorcycles fitted with BRAKTEC brakes. The hazard is a front brake caliper that may crack or break, which can mean loss of the front brake or the wheel being obstructed — both raise the risk of a crash.
The recall notice was updated on 5 November 2026.
Which bikes are affected
Product Safety NZ lists these models:
- EX250 and EX300, model years 2023–2025
- EX250F, model years 2023–2024
- EX350F, model year 2024
- MC125 to MC300, model years 2024–2025
- MC250F to MC450F, model years 2023–2025
The bikes were sold at listed motorcycle retailers between 6 February 2023 and February 2025. Models retailed after 23 February 2025 should already have had the recall work done before sale, Product Safety NZ says.
Where they were sold
Retailers named on the recall notice include Bike Torque, Boyd Motorcycles, Cyclespot Group, Cyclespot Wellington, DR Moto, Jeff Marshall Motorcycles, Northland Powersports, Wanaka Powersports, and KTM Motorcycle Distributors NZ.
What you should do
Product Safety NZ says:
- Stop using the motorcycle until an authorised GASGAS dealer inspects it.
- Arrange a free inspection and repair through an authorised dealer.
- Have the full VIN ready. It is on the right-hand side of the frame at the steering head.
Do not rely on a partial list of serial numbers in a news story. Check the live Product Safety NZ recall page or ask a dealer to confirm whether your VIN is included.
